Travelers on the Go

One Week in Roatán with #TravelerOntheGO Nicole Kestenbaum

Where was your vacation or trip? My amazing trip was to the Caribbean island of Roatán in Honduras and I was there for a whole, glorious week.

A brief description of your experience…I was in Roatán to be a bilingual emcee for the biggest fashion show of the island, The Roatán Fashion Show. I was also there to support my good friend who has a coffee shop and was participating in the runway show as a designer with her jewelry collection.

Your favorite thing to do and eat there…My favorite thing to do while I was there was definitely spending time at the sandy white beach and turquoise waters. You can find me with a coconut in hand and tanning (with great sun protection of course!).

Roatán has great seafood restaurants. The food is fresh and the beachfront views are spectacular. ©2018 Nicole Lipstick and Brunch

Besides a fresh coconut, some of my favorite dishes include, “pollo al carbon,” real corn tortillas and a Barena Beer. Nothing in the world tastes like “pollo al carbon” which literally translates to “charcoal chicken” but it’s basically chicken roasted in an open fire and the method of roasting makes for a juicy chicken with the most delicious smoky flavor.

One of my favorite dishes is this awesome Seafood Soup served at the Paradise Hotel. ©2018 Nicole Lipstick and Brunch

Where did you stay? (If a hotel, name, and location) We stayed at The Mayan Princess Hotel, which has a beautiful beach and great accommodations. Our villa had a balcony perfect for breakfast, a kitchen, and two huge rooms, perfect for traveling with a group of friends or family.

Would you go back? Why? I can’t wait to go back to Roatán! The beach, the food, the people, the weather; I miss everything about this hidden gem in the Caribbean.

Expectations- Visit the island between April and May when it’s the sunniest. The rest of the year is still warm but you might encounter some rain.

Hotel recommendations-The Honduran Mayan Princess or Paradise Hotel.

Restaurants, Excursions, Sightseeing Trails, etc.- You have to visit Little French Key and take a helicopter to a private island like Pigeon Key. These tiny keys and islands are magical and pristine. Bring a bottle of wine and some snacks for a picnic at Pigeon Key or a yoga mat for some serious private island exercise.

Overall heads up- Travel light, packs your favorite swimwear and take insect repellent.

Any upcoming trips planned for this year? Where and when? This year we might be taking our baby boy on his first trip to Madrid to visit his grandparents and the rest of the family in Spain.

Latin Grammy fashion tips…on the GO!

As you may have noticed on my social media, last week I was in Las Vegas, working and participating once again in the Latin Grammys. For me, this is one of the most crucial events because not only does it bring together amazing artists nominated all in the same city, but it also  allows me to conduct my interviews and stories, which at the end of the day is what I enjoy doing the most.

Like every other year, I make Sin City home for an entire week, so I know that when it comes to packing, I have to be very organized and bring the Autumn Season “looks”!

As you may have noticed on my social media, last week I was in Las Vegas, working and participating once again in the Latin Grammys. For me, this is one of the most crucial events because not only does it bring together amazing artists nominated within the same city, but it simply allows me to conduct my interviews and reports, which at the end of the day is what I enjoy doing the most.

I realized I would be residing a full week in Vegas, also known as Sin City, so I know that when it comes to packing, I have to be very organized and bring the Autumn Season “looks”!

Luckily, I knew I could count on @ShopVickyVictoria and @CaptivaBoutiqueMiami to help me with the whole “outfits ” situation. Here are some of my favorite.

For the “Leading Ladies Luncheon” I decided to wear a white lace dress from  @ShopVickyVictoria

Putting a little sparkle to my day with a bedazzled jean jacket. Perfect to use during the day or at night. But take a look at my shoes…LOVE THEM! Whole outfit from  @ShopVickyVictoria

One must have a “bomber jacket” in the closet. Love my black with white flowers leather jacket. Perfect to wear with with or black jeans. My jacket from no other than  @CaptivaBoutiqueMiami

Who can resist a comfy white sweater with sequins? I couldn’t! And to add an even more edgy look, put on a black leather jacket from  @ShopVickyVictoria I guarantee you will be seeing me with this jacket over and over.

And of course, I had to bring with a red jacket….red is my favorite color. This jacket you can find at @CaptivaBoutiqueMiami

For the Person of the Year Carpet, decided to wear an exclusive design from spanish designer  Rosa Clara. For the Latin Grammy’s red Carpet I got to wear a golden sequins dress from Theia Couture thank to the stylist Christian Ramirez.

What was your favorite outfit? Share your comments and ideas to be always be fashion…on the GO.

Giving firm, comfortable and stylish steps.

Like many (and many) I love shoes. At the time of buying let me wear as they looked and if they were fashionable, but recently I look for comfort … and good style, always.

So I stumbled upon Mayan Roots Came very well.

These handmade shoes are made by Honduran hands using the best product of my country. They are easy to pack in the suitcase or wallet, elegant, practical and there are many styles and colors to choose from.

The “slippers” have become such garments that can not be missed on each trip.

Whenever I use them I receive compliments and there is no shortage of people asking me: “Where did you buy them?”

So for all interested and wanting to wear different shoes, good quality and support a family business, I invite you to access this link To be able to buy your favorite pair online. At the time of completing the purchase, do not forget to select which ones were recommended by “Maity on the GO”.  🙂

Enjoy and take firm, comfortable and stylish steps towards your next trip and adventure!

What you need to pack to be comfortable and look fashionable.

You will have noticed, thanks to the social networks that I am in Seville, Spain. First time visiting this beautiful city and what better time than during Holy Week. So many more posts pending on my experience in Seville.

Visiting the Real Alcazar of Seville.

But, as with all trips, the theme of “packing” is a challenge, especially if you visit for the first time.

Fortunately, I have the help and experience of Vicky de Fernandez and Isabel Riera, two sisters who own Shop Vicky Victoria That support me with the theme of the #OOTD (Outfit of the Day) or looks of the day.

So here are some of the models they picked for me from their Coconut Grove store in Miami.

Pink blouse “off the shoulder” and shorts with butterfly patches.

Silk blouse with embroidery on the back.

Striped blouse with patches.

Floral maxi dress.

Follow my Instagram for this and more looks from Sevilla.

I love being a web designer and I’m incredibly thankful that I decided to join this industry many years ago. Still, despite my love of this profession, there have been a number of times during my career when my passion has waned and I’ve found myself simply going through the motions instead of fully applying myself to my work. This scenario is likely familiar to many of my fellow web designers. It is called burnout. Continue reading…
